5-Arylamido/imido-alkyl-2-aminobenzoic acids (1) were prepared by condensing 2-aminobenzoic acid with amido/imido alcohols. Reaction of 1 with benzoyl chloride in pyridine afforded 2-phenyl-6-arylamido/imido-alkyl-3,4-dihydrobenzoxazine-4-ones (2). Interaction of 2 with thiosemicarbazide in ethanol resulted in 2-phenyl-6-arylamido/imido-alkyl-3-thiatriazolo [1,5-c] (3H) quinazolines (3). Antiviral activity of the latter compounds was evaluated upon Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) and Herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) activity on vero cells in vitro.
