Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is a great pleasure for me to be able to invite you to the

1st Congress of the Croatian society for electron microscopy

with International Participation

Zagreb, May 13 - 16. 1999.

Microscopy has long been an important discipline in Croatia. A few years after the date of its invention in Europe, the electron microscope found its way to Croatia. The first TEM in Croatia was installed in 1954 in the Ruđer Bošković Institute. The first SEM was installed in 1976 at Institute of Metallurgy Sisak. The Croatian Society for Electron Microscopy was founded in 1986.

The 1st Congress of the Croatian Society for Electron Microscopy with International Particiaption continues the tradition of annual conferences organized by CSEM. Accordingly, we are expecting a large number of Croatian and foreign experts working in the field to attend. We hope the Congress will allow scientists to exchange information about the most recent results and technical advances in the development and application of electron microscopy.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I will be delighted personally to welcome all of you to our City for this Congress.

Welcome to Zagreb

President of the Croatian Society for Electron Microscopy
Đuro Vranešić
