The FAME is a site devoted to the systematic and scientific study of flags and coats of arms. Such symbols often bear strong political and other messages. Inclusion of those symbols here does not mean that the author supports or approves of the ideas they may stand for. |

The regulations on the local flags in Croatia require that a flag of a city or community be of a field of one colour with the coat of arms in the middle or offset towards hoist. Most of the communities follow this rule.
In 1997 the communities of Dubrovačko primorje, Janjina, Lumbarda, Trpanj and Župa dubrovačka were formed.

The coat of arms of Blato is argent a tower gules between in chief two churches of the same and in the tower's gate an olive and a vine branch in saltire and in the base fimbriated with tripple wattle or azure two sabres argent handeled or in slatire infront of a tricolour hat with tail sable. The churches shown are the two churches of Blato. The historical coat of arns (actually a seal) is noted by Ströhl azure a tower argent with a horse head or at the doors, and similar is shown by Laszowski. The sabres and the hat refer to the Blato company of a traditional knight dance of moreška (morris dance). The flag is dark red with the coat of arms in the centre. The ceremonial flag is bordered with golden triple wattle ornament.

The coat of arms of Dubrovačko primorje is argent a three-masted sailding ship gules and in the chief lijerica argent and an olive branch vert fruited or om saltire. The sailing ship is a karaka (or argosa), typical trade ship of Dubrovnik Republic on its heights, lijerica (also known as lirica or vijalo) is a local bowed musical instrument with three strings. The flag is blue with the coat of arms in the centre. The decision probably is yet to be approved by the central authorities.
Established in 1997 seceding from the city of Dubrovnik.

The coat of arms of Janjina is on a shield of blue background with a depiction of St. Blasius sitting. St. Blasius is the patron of the parish since 1628 and is shown in the coat of arms after a sucpture in the Prince's House, the seat of former Captainship (military administration subdivision of the Dubrovnik Republic) of Janjina, established in 1465. The flag is yellow with the coat of arms in the centre, while the ceremonial gonfalon includes also branches of olive and vine. The symbols are yet to be approved by the central authorities.

The coat of arms of Konavle is gules a woman in the local folk costume issuant. It depicts the rich Konavle region folk costume, with traditional white headgear, golden lined black overcoat, blue girdle and white appron. The flag is white with the coat of arms bordered yellow in the centre of it. The ceremonial flag is a white gonfalon ending triangularly with golden fringe, with the coat of arms in the centre of it, topped with the inscription of the name of the community and with an olive and a vine branch beneath.

The coat of arms of Lastovo is argent two pharmacists clead gules aproned argent each holding a chalice or and jointly holding a mortar and a pestle also or and issuant from the chief a semi-sun in splendour or. The figures represent St. Cosmas and Damian, patrons of the town that are depicted already on medieval seals of the community. The flag is red with the coat of arms in the middle.
The coat of arms of Lumbarda is, according to the statutes, "a thought out system of these symbols and colours": white (stone - "psefizma": a 4th century BC inscription tablet), blue (sea - sky), golden-yellow (sun - vine sort grk), green (pine - olive). The flag is "thought out system of blue and golden-yellow" (sic!).

The flag is light blue with the coat of arms edged golden in its centre. The status of these symbols anbd further details are unknown.
The coat of arms of Mljet adopted in 1997 was azure in an Aleppon pine cone fimbriated argent a tower on an island in a lake, and in the chief a line of cheques of gules and argent. The flag was light blue with the coat of arms bordered golden in its centre.
The coat of arms of Mljet adopted in 1994 was per fess chief per pale: 1. gules and argent 3×3, 2. or inscribed Statute di Meleda 1345, 3. azure a tower over a wattle ornament. The flag was light blue with the coat of arms in its centre.

The coat of arms of Orebić is gules a sextant or and in the canton a bunch of grapes azure. The bunch of grapes represents the vine sort mali plavac of which the region is famous. The sextant represent the long lasting tradition of Orebić men to serve as maritime and naval captains. The flag is light blue with the coat of arms in its centre.

The coat of arms of Pojezerje is azure a bend wavy argent between a bunch of grapes with a leaf and a fig also with a leaf all or. The wavy band refers to the community name, meaning roughly "(region) around the lakes". The main products of the region are vine and figs. (Unfortunately, the statutes do not describe the flag.)

The coat of arms of Slivno is per fes wavy or and azure from which is issuing a falcon displayed argent. The flag is blue with the coat of arms bordered white in the centre of it.

The coat of arms of Ston azure St. Blasius or with a right hand riased and holding a staff in his left hand issuant from a fortress argent and in base salt fields also argent. The forification shown is stylization of the forts of Stoviš and Koruna. The flag is yellow with the coat of arms in the middle (described in the Statutes). The ceremonial flag (described as "flag" in the 1994 decision) is vertical, yellow, in the ratio 3:5, with the coat of arms over the inscription STON and ornaments depicting a motif from the Preromanic wattlework of 10th century from the Church of St. George in Janjina and the Church of the Lady of Lužina in Ston.

Vela Luka used a dove as its symbol for some time, so when it came to choosing the arms it was a natural choice. The coat of arms is >Azure a white dove flying with an olive branch Or in the beak. The flag is blue with the coat of arms bordered white in the middle. Although the description in the Statutes does not mention the white border, the coat of arms is used with it both in the flag and when used on its own, including also in the official gazette header.

The coat of arms of Župa dubrovačka is gules a woman's head couped with black hear in a bun and an earring argent and or toped with a white torse on which is set a basket or filled abundant with fruits proper. This refers to the traditional way the peasant girls would bring their goods to the Dubrovnik markets from this region that was main agricultiral provider to the city for centuries. The flag is dark red with the coat of arms brodered yellow in the middle. The ceremonial flag is a dark red gonfalon with three triangularly ending tails, the middle one being longer, containing golden ornaments of vine, olive and fig branches. In the middle is the coat of arms of the community and the name inscribed in three arches. The table flag is vertical rectangular flag with the coat of arms in the middle and green olive and branches with yellow bunches of grapes below it and the yellow name of the communiyt in two rows in the base.
