The coat of arms pictures the river Kolpa within a narrow gorge, above it the St. Egidius church and in the top a rocky formation. The church represents the typical rural architecture of the region. The rocks leave open paths on the sides symbolically for the openhearted of the people. The shield form represent the gorge, while the ending at the bottom reminds on crossed branches as a symbol of nature.
The flag is horizontal bicolour of white over green, the green stripe being the double so wide as the white stripe. Overall is symbolically represented the river Kolpa within a gorge.
There are minor inaccuracies in the drawing of the coat of arms shown here.

The coat of arms adopted by the community of Pesnica before 1990's should maybe better be called a badge. It contains a landscape scene within an ornamented border with agricultural products and ribbon bearing the name of the community. The flag in use is a vertically hoisted white-yellow-white triband with the coat of arms set in the lower end.

Until 1995 the community of Pesnica was a part of the Civic Assembly of Communities of Maribor.

The coat of arms of Piran (in Italian Pirano) features the same red cross on white as in several other Istrian towns (since about 16th century), as could be seen in many number of such crosses in Croatian part of Istria, too. The community of Piran differentiated her coat of arms by putting it on blue background and providing only thin white fimbriation between the red cross and the field. In the modern artistic rendition the coat of arms is used as part of the emblem in a ribbon-like ornament is set around the shield, topped with characteristic embattlements.
The flag is red over blue bicolour with the coat of arms set in the middle of the hoist half of the red stripe. Vertical version is reportedly used in much longer ratio on the main square.

The coat of arms and the flag picture the folk hero Martin Krpan (actually invented by popular Slovenian writer Fran Levstik) riding on his mare holding a double bladed axe and a club. The flag pattern is characteristic of the modern Slovenian municipal flags, in shape of a cross of unusual proportions.

The community of Pivka was formed in 1995, from part of the community of Postojna. Before 1950's the name of the place was Šempeter na Krasu, but was renamed after the nearby river.

The designer proposed 15 versions of the flag based on previously decided coat of arms, among which the local comission elected three to be proposed to the local assembly. Two of the proposals were similar, the one white-green with the coat of arms and a variation of it with smaller coat of arms in canton of the white field. The third proposal included triangular division between the white and green fields of the flag and only the attribute of the coat of arms - the pasqueflower in the white field. The finally adopted design is compromise between the two.

The coat of arms is per fess Gules a Maltese cross Argent and of the last a Lion couchant Sable langued of the first. The flag consists of a red square with white Maltese cross at hoist and in the fly a red-white-red triband with black lion in the middle.
The flag description in the decision is ambiguous - in one place it does not mention the lion while on the other spot the description includes the lion in the white stripe. Designer's intention was the flag without the lion, while the flag with the lion is certainly seen in use in the community.

The coat of arms of Postojna is blazoned in the 1909 grant per fess Azure and Gules, overall an eagle displayed Argent beaked and membered Or and langued Gules, in base per chevron embowed Argent a Proteus proper, bordered with bronze ornament and crowned with a silver mural crown with five visible embattlements. The Proteus or olm (Proteus anguinus; in German Grottenolm) is an endemic species of a worm-like "fish" with legs (in Slovenian is called "human fish") living in everlasting darkness of karst caves. It is the symbol of a huge caves system that has opening in Postojna. The town of Postojna have received the first coat of arms in 1498.
The 2005 decision established a new symbol to replace the one established in 1993, but still formally retaining the 1909 coat of arms. The new symbols follows the original coat of arms more closerly and heraldically correct. The 1993 flag was abandoned and a new bordeaux red flag was adopted, with the coat of arms set next to the hoist. The decision adopting the symbols showes the flag in vertical variant with white inscription in two rows stating the name of the community. The horizontal version of the flag is also prescribed as well as two ratio varinats. Namely, the document on the community identity prescribes a both vertical and horizontal 2:5 varinat without inscriptions, as well as the two 1:2 variants. There is also a 1:2 variant for the table flag use that has the white inscription, but also ornamentation of a darker red in the flag background repeating the lines of the eagle and the proteus in the flag background.

The 1993 decision established a symbol that is based on the coat of arms (so formally the 1909 coat of arms was not abandoned), in slightly simplified form, which was bordered Or and crowned with simplified mural crown. The proteus was depicted golden-orange. At the same time the flag was established, white with the border of red triangles and the symbol set toward the hoist. The vertical variant has the symbol appropriately rotated, set in the middle, and does no have the top border. It is also somewhat shorter in ratio.
