D. Rydz - The Influence of Asymmetry Factor and Deformation on the Criterion Optimizing the Relative Flow Rate of St3S+0H13J Bimetallic Strip

The design of new technologies of rolling bimetal plates poses a lot of problems with obtaining a uniform distribution of rolling reduction into the layers and a straight strip at the roll gap exit. This is the main cause to determine optimization criterion of relative flow rate. Computer analyses of the asymmetrical rolling process were performed in this study to optimize the conditions of production of bimetallic plates. A Finite Element Method-based program, Forge 2D, was used for computer simulation. pdf - 293 kB

A. Kawałek, A. Milenin, H. Dyja - Analysis of the Effect of Die Shape on the State of Strain in the Process of Extrusion of Thin-Walled Aluminium Sections

A theoretical analysis of the effect of die shape on the stress - strain state during hot extrusion of T-section bar of two different aluminium alloys has been carried out in this study. A finite element method-based program, was used for modelling the extrusion process. Tests were carried out to obtain optimal process parameters of extrusion of T-shaped section, at which no deformation of the section occurs. The effect of the antechamber height and the shape as well as arrangements of the die channel on the geometrical shape of the extruded product have been determined. pdf - 208 kB

B. Pučko, V. Gliha - Charpy Toughness of Vibrated Microstructures

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of vibration on impact toughness of weld metal. Studies were carried out on two welds, of which one had been welded with applying vibration during welding. From test plates samples were made to simulate heat affect in combination with or without vibration after solidification. This way conditions at multi-pass welding were simulated. According to different conditions Charpy toughness on non standard specimens and fracture appearance were observed. Vibration during welding benefits impact energy of weld metal, especially if weld metal undergoes further heat treatment. pdf - 118 kB

I. Uygur, I. Dogan - The Effect of TIG Welding on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Butt- Joined-Unalloyed Titanium

Microstructures, properties and technical parameters of welding specimen of 3 mm thick sheets of commercially pure titanium have been studied. The results indicate that the TIG welding process is suitable for commercially pure titanium, full penetration and the welding seam without defects can be obtained. The tensile, bending and hardness properties of the joints are corresponding to matrix structure. The mechanical properties of the three welded joints are similar to each other and comparable to those of the base material. pdf - 172kB

Influence of Processes Parameters on Axial Breaking Force of Parts Produced by Selective Laser Sintering Process

Insufficient knowledge about essence of the Selective Laser Sintering - SLS process and influence of process parameters on properties of produced parts constraints widely usage of SLS process in production systems. One of the most significant process failures is impossibility of full-real load of the produced parts-prototypes. Influence on process parameters is analysed in this paper (laser power and scan velocity), as well as post processing influence on value of axial breaking force of the parts produced by SLS process using material DM50-V2, on machine EOSIMT M250, producer EOS Münich, Germany. pdf - 131 kB

G. Stradomski, D. Rydz, H. Dyja - Bimetal Plate St3S+Cu

The paper presents a theoretical analysis of the asymmetrical process of rolling bimetal plates composed of the base St3S layer and a Cu cladding layer. Investigation carried out aimed at determining the curvature of bimetal band depending on the value of roll peripheral speed asymmetry factor av. Computer simulations were performed on three different layer thickness ratios, HS/HH. Numerical studies were based on computer simulations carried out using the Forge 2D software. For computations, this program uses the finite-element method. The asymmetry of the process resulted from a non-uniform distribution of rolling reduction into the bimetal band layers, which caused the band to bend at the rolling mill exit. To counteract this behaviour, an asymmetry of working roll peripheral speeds was introduced. pdf - 113kB

H. Avdušinović, A. Gigović - The Morphology and Distribution of MnS in Low Carbon Steel

Non-metallic inclusions are very important (harmful) in steelmaking practice. After oxygen, sulphur is the most important non-metallic element in field of steel metallurgy and sulphides therefore form a second important group of inclusions. Since the morphology of these sulphide inclusions has significant effects on the various properties of steel, numerous studies focusing on morphology and distribution of the MnS inclusions have been conducted over the years. This paper presents the results of the investigation of the MnS inclusion shape and distribution in low carbon steel. pdf - 408 kB
