D. Živković, D. Manasijević, Ž. Kamberović, Cocić, B. Marjanović - Thermodynamic and Structural Investigation of the Ag-In-Sb System

The Ag-In-Sb ternary system presents one of the possible lead-free solder candidates. Therefore, the results of thermodynamic study of the alloys in the Ag-In-Sb alloys, obtained using general solution model, are presented in the paper. Obtained data for partial and integral molar thermodynamic quantities in the temperature interval 1000-1200K are given. The characterization of these alloys have been done using DTA, XRD, SEM and optic microscopy, which enabled the construction of the Ag-In-Sb phase diagram in the concentration range up to 60 wt. % Ag.

- The Application of Waste Silica Cyclone Powder for the Protective Coating of Steel Billets

The role of a protective coating is to diminish the steel surface scaling during the reheating for hot rolling. The protective coating consists of several components, and the effect of the coating is based on the formation of the modification of Al2O3, amorphous SiO2 and FeO×Al2O3, which all exhibit low permeability to oxygen at temperature up to 1200 °C. The silica sand powder from the cyclone is a waste product in the separation of silica sand. Tests confirmed that waste cyclone powder could replace the silica flour as one of the ingredients in the protective coating. The results of the efficiency of the protective coating after the advanced application of waste cyclone powder on AISI 1059 and AISI 6150 steels are presented. The application of the coating decreased the oxidation and decarburisation of the steel surface during the reheating for hot rolling. pdf - 509 kB

I. Leššo, P. Flegner, B. Pandula, P. Horovčák - New Principles of Process Control in Geotechnics by Acoustic Methods

The article presents the first results of research on the utilization of acoustic methods in identification process by optimal control of rotary drilling. pdf -567 kB

L. Kraus, J. Zrník, P. Wangyao, S. Nemček -
Materials Properties of Modifeied Ni-Based Alloy

The thermomechanical processing of NiMoCr solid solution nickel base superalloy is the way to considerably influence the grain size. As uniform coarse grain size increases the creep strength and crack growth resistance. In the work, the processing to achieve uniform recrystallized grain structure with variation of thermomechanical parameters is investigated. The creep behaviour of the alloy after various hot working conditions is determined. The results of creep tests showed that creep characteristics such as strain rate and lifetime were greatly dependent on the initial hot working conditions and annealing parameters. pdf - 508 kB

J. Vojvodič Tuma, R. Celin - Erection of a Stainless-Steel Tank for Storing a Phosphoric Acid

A storage tank for 93 % phosphoric acid was built in Luka Koper from 7 mm thick ground hot-rolled plates of 316L stainless steel. The capacity of the storage tank is of the 750 m3, diameter of 11 m and the height of 8,2 m. The shell plates were welded manually using the shielded metal-arc and gas-metal-arc processes. Before the erection, welding procedure tests according to EN 288-3 were carried out. During the construction several non-destructive examination methods were used, such as radiographic testing and visual and liquid penetrant examination. After the entire tank and roof structure were completed, a hydrostatic leak test was carried out. The surfaces of all the welds on the internal surface of the vessel were ground and the roughness was checked on site. The surfaces of the base material and the ground welds were passivated and tested for resistance to corrosion with electrochemical measurements. pdf - 776 kB

M. Ikonić, B. Barišić, D. Blažević - Identification and Quantification of Raw Materials During Designing of Cast Producing Process

It is investigated the possibility to be accounted the raw material’s quantity for each casting on the basis of design draft and mass of casting. To precisely determine the quantity of raw materials is necessary to technological procedure is preliminary accomplished. This task can be reached if correlations between kind of castings, shape complexity of castings, relations between total and net mass of castings, relations between mass of cores and mass of net casting will be established, with all respect toward applied technology and production methods of cores, the molding box and models.

I. Juraga, V. Šimunović, Đ. Španiček - Contribution to the Study of Effects of Surface State of Welded Joints in Stainless Steel Upon Resistance Towards Pitting Corrosion

Successful corrosion resistance of stainless steels is based on their natural ability of passivation, i.e. formation of film of chromium oxides that prevents corrosion in many environments. Any nonuniformity of surface layers may be initial spot for corrosion processes and damages. In this contribution, beside real corrosion damages occurred in practice, results of testing of pitting corrosion resistance of weld beads made applying TIG process on AISI 316L steel grade are presented. SEM and EDX testing, as well as electrochemical corrosion testing confirmed adverse effects of heat tints zones upon corrosion resistance of stainless steels. pdf - 908 kB

F. Trebuňa, F. Smičák, M. Buršák, J. Tomčik - Research of Mechanical Properties of Piping Yards in the Assessment of their Safe Operation

Working life of piping yards of compressor stations is mainly influenced by material parameters of particular structural members. In the paper are given the results of static and dynamic tests of basic as well as welded joint material of pipe of compressor station for which were determined conditions for safe operation. pdf - 602 kB

P. Wangyao, J. Zrnik, I. Mamuzić, S. Polsilapa, S. Klaijumrang - Restoration and Thermal Stability Investigation of Intermetllic Phase in Exposed Nickel Base Superalloy Udimet 500 Turbine Bladesoj uporabi lopatice turbina

The Udimet 500 nickel base superalloy blade exposed for 50000 hours in land base gas turbine working conditions faced the structure degradation. Six different heat treatments procedures have been applied (the blades were exposed at 900 °C and 1000 °C for different periods with maximum hold of 2500 hours) to rejuvenate the degraded structure. Metallographic work was performed, generally, aging at both temperatures modify the gamma prime size, morphology and distribution characteristics substantially. The volume fraction of secondary gamma prime decreased with increasing aging time. pdf - 765 kB

F. Trebuňa, F. Šimčák, M. Buršák, J. Bocko, P. Šarga, M. Pástor, P. Trebuňa - The Strain Gage Method for Determination of Input Working Life Parameters of Pipes in Compressor Stations

For determination of safety operation of compressor stations and assessment of their residual working life is necessary to know the levels of residual stresses, operational loading as well as functionality of real support elements and influence of history of previous loading. The method described in the paper was verified several times during solution of problems concerning safety operation of piping yards. The method was also verified by the numerical methods of mechanics. pdf - 773 kB
