The organizers and sponsors of the PANCARDI 2000 Meeting thank all participants for having accepted their invitation and give them a warm welcome to the PANnonian basin-CARpathian-DInaride System - Dynamics of ongoing orogeny.

Meeting site

The meeting sessions will be held at the Hotel Lapad, Dubrovnik from October 1 - 3.

Dubrovnik

Freedom and Beauty

 Dubrovnik is among the unique cities in the world ... Town turned its independence into a cult of freedom, stressed on every possible occasion by its statesmen, envoys and poets.

Harmony

 ... "Those who wish to see heaven on earth should come to Dubrovnik" (Bernard Shaw, 1929). He was not only praising the glorious history of Dubrovnik, but also the natural features of the whole region rich in carefully cultivated landscape and places with long history.

Gifts of Nature

 ... perfect harmony that God has granted to this region.

Imagination Etched in Stone

 Stone holds sway over all the streets of Dubrovnik ... boldly finding its way into houses, churches, gardens and parks. It etches its hallmark into this ancient architecture.

Registration desk

Registration desk will be organized in Hotel Lapad and will be available from October 1st.

Visas

A valid passport is ussualy sufficient to enter Croatia. Please apply in due time for visas whenever necessary. Those who need a personal invitation to attend the Meeting should apply to the organising committee. Those who register for field trip to Dinarides (passing through Bosnia and Hercegovina) are reminded to consult the nearest embassy of the Bosnia and Hercegovina.
 
 

Weather

The weather in September and October is usually pleasant in Croatia (21 deg C for Dubrovnik area). For weather conditions and basic information before the trip use links: Zagreb, Dubrovnik. In BiH a little bit colder conditions may be expected

Language

The official language of the PANCARDI Meeting will be English.

Accommodation

Global accommodation includes 4 nights in Hotel Lapad, Dubrovnik. Participants not taking part in the field excursion must notify the Organising committee of the arriving time (we will reserve the room for you) and arrange accommodation directly with the Hotel personnel. Social events

Ice-breaker party, guided tourof Dubrovnik, farewell dinner.

Refreshments

"Coffee breaks" will be organized in the pauses between the meeting sessions.
