'VECERNJI LIST' DAILY: SAKIC RECEIVES TREATMENT IN CIVILIAN HOSPITAL

ZAGREB, Oct 27 (Hina) - A commander of the World War II concentration camp of Jasenovac, Dinko Sakic (aged 78), who was recently sentenced by the Zagreb County Court to 20 years in prison for the war crime against humanity, has been receiving treatment at the cardiology department of Zagreb's "Dubrava" hospital for the third day, Wednesday's issue of "Vecernji list" daily reported.

According to the daily, "due to a major change in his heart rhythm, Sakic was first examined in the prison infirmary and doctors established that he should be taken to a civilian hospital.

This was done under police escort. Police officers are in and in front of Sakic's room, as well as at the entrance to the cardiology department.

Sakic is now in a coronary unit and has been connected to monitors and he is taking heart medication. It has not been decided yet whether he will undergo surgery or only continue receiving medication. His age, which is probably partly the reason for his current heart problems, will be an important factor in making this decision, the daily says.
